Eben hing das Update der DNS Glue Server records noch für den Porvider der wohl zensurbedgt ausseichden muss. Hi everyone,
Just wanted to give you a quick update. I've spoken with A***, and while he's doing okay, he's got a bit of a recovery ahead of him. We're all wishing him a speedy return to full health.
Now, I also need to share some important news about ***HOST. We've had to make some tough decisions to ensure the long-term health of the company, especially with A*** needing time to recover.
As part of this, we'll be streamlining our services. This means we'll be saying goodbye to our IPv4 tunnel offerings entirely.
We'll also be closing down our locations in Frankfurt, London, and Toronto in 15 days from today (that's around April 10th, 2025). For Amsterdam, this change will happen a little sooner, in just 7 days from today (around April 2nd, 2025).
If you have any data in these locations that's important to you, please make sure you back it up as soon as possible. If your service runs beyond these closure dates, we'll absolutely refund you for the time you haven't used. We can also provide you with a full copy of your virtual machine as a .qcow2 image if you'd like. Just bear with me, as it might take a few days to get those ready for download.
Once the time comes, we'll be shutting down all VMs and services in these locations.
On a brighter note, our Kansas and Fremont locations aren't going anywhere for now. There are no plans to change or close them. We might tweak the network routing behind the scenes at some point, but the services themselves will continue as they are.
I know this news might be disappointing, especially for those of you who've put your trust in A*** and ***HOST over the years. These steps are being taken to protect the brand he's worked so hard to build and to make sure that his efforts aren't lost. It's a real shame that we have to scale back to just our US compute, but it's the best way to ensure my good friend doesn't lose everything he's poured into this.
I also want to give a massive thank you to everyone who's been helping keep things running smoothly at ***HOST – your support means the world.
To help you find new homes for your services in the locations we're leaving, I wanted to recommend a few providers we've worked with and trust:
[...]
I really appreciate your understanding as we navigate these changes. We'll do our best to make this transition as smooth as possible for everyone. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Thanks,
Rhys
